“The received permit for the construction of a new power unit of the Leningrad NPP-2 allows us, as the general contractor, and LNPP, as the customer, to begin the main construction period. This year, the key event is the construction of pits for the “nuclear and turbine islands” for the third unit. We are currently continuing work on vertical levelling and soil movement. About 60% of the total volume has already been completed here. In the near future, the customer shall notify Rostechnadzor about the start of the main stage of construction, transfer them the necessary package of documents, after which we will begin developing a pit for the “nuclear island” of unit No. 3,” noted Konstantin Khudyakov, director of the program for LNPP facilities of TITAN CONCERN JSC -2".
The project for the construction of new power units at LNPP-2 has already received a number of positive conclusions, prior to the start of the construction process, from the expert commission of the State Environmental Expertise and the State Expertise on the project for the construction of new units.
These documents confirmed that the project of the second stage with VVER-1200 reactors of the Leningrad NPP complies with environmental requirements and legislation in the field of environmental protection, the requirements of technical regulations in the field of nuclear, environmental and industrial safety. By the end of the year, it is planned to obtain a license for the construction of nuclear installations of two new power units.
