The complex operation was performed by the specialists of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2.
A special slinging diagram was required in order to install a structure weighting more than 200 tons and more than 40 meters in length inside the reactor building. It was developed at the Design and Engineering Branch of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2.
Installation of the polar crane beam was performed using the open top method, i.e. through open roofing of the building using Liebherr LR 11350 crawler crane. The structure was installed at the design elevation of +40.100 onto a crane rail.
The polar crane is designed for installation of the main equipment of the reactor building, and during the power plant operation it takes part in the nuclear fuel movement into the reactor and is used to move the equipment during repairs. The beam, or the so-called “bridge”, is the largest part of the crane. Further on, the specialists will need to lift other elements of the crane to the reactor: load trolley, gantry, etc.
