Over the next three months, the Company’s employees will install the first five tiers of the cavity.

The height of the civil structure will be over 34 meters, a nuclear reactor and safety systems equipment of the power unit will be installed inside, as well as measuring channels and sensors to monitor the level of radiation, air temperature, construction concrete and metal of the equipment. They will ensure the safe operation of the nuclear installation.

Konstantin Khudyakov, Program Director for Leningrad NPP Facilities, JSC CONCERN TITAN-2:
“At the first stage, the builders will need 175 tons of steel reinforcement and 612 cubic meters of concrete mix. Given that during the operation of the power unit, the reactor cavity will have to perform additional safety functions, it will be built of special-purpose heavy concrete. It will ensure the strength, durability and radiation hardness of the structure. During the operation of the power unit, the walls of the reactor cavity 1700 to 2200 mm thick will reduce heat and thermal losses in the cavity volume and reduce thermal and radiation burden on the civil structures and personnel of the nuclear power plant.”

Information note from TITAN-2 Holding

TITAN-2 Holding (part of ROSATOM State Corporation) is one of the key participants in large-scale nuclear industry projects in Russia and abroad.

The Holding companies perform a full cycle of work: design, construction organization, construction, electric installation, commissioning of facilities.

Today, TITAN-2 is the general contractor of the construction of new power units of the Leningrad, Kola and Smolensk NPPs, participates in implementation of the PDEC “Breakthrough” project in Seversk, as well as in the largest international nuclear projects – Akkuyu NPP in Türkiye, Paks II NPP in Hungary and El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt.

New power units of the Leningrad NPP and the Kursk NPP-2, the Core Shared Research Facility Siberian Circular Photon Source (SKIF) in Novosibirsk, as well as the facilities of Innopolis in Tatarstan are among the projects completed by the Holding. The competencies of TITAN-2 are also in demand in construction of large industrial, research, social and infrastructural facilities.
