A field staff meeting was held at the Smolensk NPP-2 construction site in Desnogorsk attended by the management of the nuclear power plant, representatives of the customer and the general contractor – TITAN-2 Holding.
JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 was represented by General Director Grigory Naginskiy and Executive Director Dmitry Tveritinov.
The main topic of the meeting was the preparation for one of the key stages of the project – concreting the foundation slab of the Power Unit 1 reactor building, scheduled for March 2027. The staff meeting participants inspected the construction site and checked the progress of work at the infrastructure facilities. Currently, the construction base is being actively built: the foundations of three engineering buildings of the general contractor and the customer, as well as a canteen for 100 seats, have been completed.
Inspection of the following work sites was carried out: of vertical planning, of moving wood scrap, of arranging fire extinguishing systems, of water supply, of constructing on-site and temporary access road, of arranging pits of reinforcement shop and concrete mixing unit.
Particular attention of the meeting participants was paid to the issues of occupational health and safety at the construction site of Smolensk NPP-2. The best safety management practices applied at other Rosatom construction sites were discussed. Representatives of the customer and the general contractor agreed to introduce daily commission walk-arounds, strengthening of control and exchange of experience.
We are talking not only about occupational health and safety, but also about fire, environmental and radiation safety. All these areas must be managed systematically. Here, we will definitely implement the best practices that are already working at other Rosatom construction sites, said Dmitry Tveritinov, Executive Director of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2.
Currently, 90 people and 46 pieces of equipment are working at the site. To reach the planned volumes, it is necessary to increase the staff number to 1,000 people by the summer of this year. At the same time, the construction camp will be improved to provide employees with decent conditions: housing, canteens and a medical center.
According to the development plans of the electric power industry in Russia, Smolensk NPP-2 Power Unit 1 must be commissioned in 2033, Power Unit 2 – in 2035. The next field staff meeting is scheduled for April.
