Not only specialists of the TITAN-2 Holding, but also scientists are working at the construction site at the same time. Construction, assembly and pre-commissioning of the sophisticated equipment are carried out by the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The first launch of the linear accelerator took place on 18 December. This is one of the most technically complex systems of the future synchrotron accelerating-storage complex, which is responsible for preparing the beam to enter the main ring. The accelerator assembly was completed in record-setting 1.5 months.
During the start-up tests, the electron beam passed through the entire structure of the linear accelerator at a distance of 25 meters. The beam parameters recorded by measuring instruments fully correspond to the design values.
In addition, the equipment of the booster synchrotron has already been installed in the tunnel of the Collective Use Center SKIF injector building. All 44 special stands (girders) with magnetic-vacuum systems are in the design position.
The Collective Use Center SKIF is a complex of 34 buildings and structures equipped with engineering and process equipment, which makes it possible to conduct scientific research using synchrotron radiation beams.
The Siberian ring photon source is being created within the national project “Science and Universities” in order to develop a modern domestic network of new generation synchrotron radiation sources in Russia. The construction of the facility is under special control of Anatoly Seryshev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District.
