The foundation will serve as the base for the turbine generator plant. It is a complex building structure capable of assuming and evenly distributing the loads generated during the turbine operation.
The works included placing approximately 2,300 cubic meters of high-strength self-consolidating concrete, using more than 300 t of rebars and installing about 70 t of embedded parts.
Prior to the start of concreting, the turbine unit columns, vibration isolators and embedded parts were installed. It will take about 30 days for the foundation concrete to reach its design strength. After that, the builders will be able to start the second stage of works on the installation of the turbine building pedestals.
Then a special commission with the participation of representatives of the Turkish Nuclear Regulatory Authority and an independent inspection organization will check the quality of concreting. Completion of all monitoring inspections will mark the completion of the foundation slab installation for the turbine plant of power unit 3.
