The Company acts as a general contractor for the entire scope of works on two new power units.

Site grading is a set of important activities, the main purpose of which is to prepare the site for pit excavation in accordance with all requirements.

Currently, excavators and bulldozers are leveling the soil according to the cut and fill plan to match the design elevation. In the highlands, the soil is cut off, and in the lowlands, some soil is added with compaction in layers. The site grading works will be completed this year in December. Besides, at the entrance to Desnogorsk, specialists of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 are constructing a temporary modular construction camp, which will be able to accommodate thousands of construction workers involved in the second stage of the plant construction.

TITAN-2 employees will have to perform labor-intensive work to reach concreting of the foundation slab of the power unit 1 reactor as per the schedule. This includes preparation of treatment facilities, utility networks, reinforcing facilities, concrete mixing units, warehouses, administrative and other buildings. Installation of infrastructure will start next year.

The power units of the Smolensk NPP-2 will be constructed according to the VVER TOI project with a capacity of 1200 MW each. The new plant will replace the existing units with RBMK-1000 reactors, which are reaching the end of their production capacity life. The main construction period for units 1 and 2 of the Smolensk NPP-2 is scheduled for 2025–2035.
