The new airport will improve the transportation accessibility of the Akkuyu NPP construction region.

On August 11, 2024, the first flight of IrAERO Airlines took place in the interests of JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 and TSM-Enerji. Its passengers included 100 construction workers and nuclear experts who traveled to Mersin province to join the construction of the first nuclear power plant in the Republic of Turkey.

At the solemn welcoming ceremony for the first flight, the passengers were greeted by Evgeny Iatcenko, General Director of TSM-Enerji, and Anatoly Gafitullin, Deputy General Director of IrAERO Airlines. They gave a symbolic start to air travel to the new airport.

"Starting from 2020, JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 has been organizing charter flights to the Akkuyu NPP construction region. During this period, we have transported more than 35,000 passengers and over 1000 tons of cargo. It's time to say goodbye to the airport in the city of Adana and express our gratitude. The new airport is located closer to the Akkuyu NPP construction site. This simplifies logistics tasks and makes the transfer for our colleagues less time-consuming and more comfortable. Çukurova International Airport will become an important hub for transportation of cargo and passengers, as well as employees of one of the largest nuclear construction sites in the world", noted Aleksandr Entin, Head of Linguistic Support and Travel Management Office of JSC TITAN-2 CONCERN.
