Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, was present via videoconference. He gave permission to start concreting the first section. Alexey Likhachev, the head of the Rosatom State Corporation, and Alexander Drozdenko, the Governor of the Leningrad Region, marked the start of the operation by symbolically pressing a button.

The concreting of the nuclear island of the seventh power unit was carried out by specialists from the TITAN-2 Holding. The concrete mixture was mixed at the concrete plant of the Industrial Enterprises Management, which is part of the company. Beforehand, specialists prepared the ideal recipe in the laboratory, conducted non-destructive testing of the concrete samples that had gained strength, made a concrete base and tied more than two hundred tons of reinforcement on the site.

The concreting was carried out under a special awning, which allows maintaining a positive temperature (at least +5 degrees), necessary for the operation. The concrete was pumped into two concrete pumps with booms of 36 and 52 meters. After the specialists placed the concrete mixture in the first section, it was left to harden for 28 days. This is how long it will take for the concrete mixture to gain strength. After the first seven days, the laboratory specialists will conduct additional non-destructive testing of the already hardened concrete.
