A pilot sample of a pump unit and an electrical motor were shipped to the site of the Siberian Chemical Combine in the middle of March.
A pilot sample of the main circulation pump unit (MCPU) is designed to transfer melted lead in the first primary circuit of the BREST reactor. The pumps will transfer around 11 tons of melted lead per second with the rotor spinning at a speed of 370 rotations per minute. The overall weight of the pump unit consisting of the pump and electrical motor exceeds 30 tons.
The electrical motor itself was fabricated in the LLC Electrotyazhmash-Privod factory. Its main function will be the actuation of the pilot sample of the main circulation pump.
A number of tests of the new equipment will be carried out within a year, followed by an assessment of the condition of the pump joints and parts. The JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 stand-alone subdivisions’ specialists plan to carry out the installation of 4 MCPU-1720 in the BREST reactor.
