The dome of inner containment of the reactor building was installed at the Akkuyu NPP power unit No. 1

The total weight of the structure comprised 340 tons. A special crossarm weighing 75 tons was developed and made to lift the dome to the elevation of +61.700. The dome has a spherical shape and consists of 16 installation sections. The dome pre-assembly took 3.5 months.

Upon completion of IC dome concreting, the final stage of works on construction and installation of outer containment will commence.

“Inner containment dome installation is an important stage in the construction of power unit No. 1. We are approaching the milestone of the next year, namely the fresh fuel delivery to the Akkuyu NPP site. We have outer containment installation and other acceptance works ahead of us prior to completion of construction of power unit No. 1 by the centenary of the Republic of Turkey,” noted Anastasia Zoteeva, JSC AKKUYU NÜKLEER General Director.
