The structure, weighing 322 tons and standing more than 11 metres high, was installed to its design position using Liebherr LR 13000 crane. The installation was carried out using specially developed technology which ensures that acceptable deviation from the intended diameter value is within the range of 5 mm. Following the inner containment tier installation, the height of the reactor building reached +28.55 meters.
The third tier of inner containment was manufactured in Sosnovy Bor at LLC TITAN TECHNOLOGY PIPELINE and delivered to the construction site by sea from Saint Petersburg. The tier of the internal containment is a welded metal structure consisting of 24 sections. The structure was pre-assembled at a special site near the reactor building. The quality of all welded joints was confirmed by ultrasonic testing.
During the summer, T2IC specialists will install the reactor cavity reinforcement block, the second tier of the inner containment and the support truss on Unit 2 of the plant under construction. Concreting of Unit 3 turbine building has been completed, and the foundation slab of the reactor building will be ready as soon as possible.
