The cantilever truss is a part of the core catcher. It was pre-assembled on a special jig during 1.5 months. Structure weight 176 tonnes, diameter 9.35 metres, height 2.2 metres. It was installed with the use of Terex Demag CC6800 crawler crane with the maximum load capacity of 1,250 tonnes.
“Our Subdivision performs installation of the main process systems and equipment.
During the implementation of this milestone, the cantilever truss was pre-assembled from dozens of components. Assembly and installation were performed by highly qualified fitters and welders with relevant work experience at the LNPP,” noted Andrey Berendyugin, Supervisor of Directorate for Mechanical Installation of ICTSM, the project contractor company.
At the next stage, nozzles and maintenance corridors will be welded to the truss. This work will be followed by installation and concreting of the dry shielding, assembly of the support truss, and then the erection of the reactor cavity will be continued.
