Specialists of JSC MSU-90 and JSC Northern construction department conducted the operation of lifting the large-size equipment.
Installation of the steam generator on its regular place was carried out using an open top method, that is, through the open roof of the building. This method allows to simplify the mounting process and to speed up the process of construction as a whole.
The 320 t steam generator was raised with the crane "Liebherr LR 11350" to a height above 40 meters and lowered inside the reactor building to a level of +16,000, on the special supports.
The remaining three steam generators and the pressurizer will be mounted in the same way. These are the main process equipment of the reactor plant. The steam generators are designed to generate steam that drives the turbine.
After installation, each piece of equipment will be covered with a special metal sectional casing to ensure protection against external effects. This will enable specialists to continue construction and installation work in the reactor building prior to covering it with the dome.
