Cladding of twenty facilities of Power Unit 1 of the NPP under construction is going on. Among them are the reactor and turbine island buildings, administrative-laboratory and utility complex and auxiliary buildings.
The work is performed by the contractor organization of the JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 – LLC SK Termopanel. The total area to be clad is 45000 square meters.
Thermopanel is a structure consisting of two metal sheets with heat insulation inside, its thickness being from 80 to 200 mm. One panel weighs from 20 to 40 kg/m2. This product is Russian-made, and fully meets the demanding requirements of the state Corporation "Rosatom" for strength and durability.
Forty specialists of LLC SK Termopanel are now working at the LNPP construction site. Two teams are working on the reactor building. The area of the cladding at this facility is approximately 6500 square meters. Panels with a thickness of 80 mm are being installed here, whereas, starting from level + 54 meters and above, panels with a thickness of 150 mm are used to create a heating circuit of the reactor upper part. Since this presumes working at height, an industrial climbing technique is used. Scaffolding is used, where appropriate.
The installation technique was proposed by the designers of Saint Petersburg scientific and research Institute "ATOMENERGOPROEKT" (JSC SPbAEP) and first used for cladding of a nuclear power plant buildings. This unique technique allows reducing several times the time of works for heat insulation of facades and protective coating of the walls.
It is expected that the cladding of Power Unit 1 facilities of the Leningrad NPP under construction will be completed by the end of the year.
