The specialists of OJSC “SUS” completed the pre-assembly work of the 4th tier of the reactor building inner containment for the second Power Unit of the LNPP under construction.
The metalwork diameter is 44 meters, its height is 10.4 meters, the weight complete with the supporting frame metalwork is 216 tons.
The internal surface of the containment is covered with special protective composition. The pre-assembly of the metal leak-tight shell of the inner containment was executed on the special bench by the reactor building of the second Power Unit of the LNPP under construction. All weld joints have been tested for absence of defects with the use of ultrasonic method followed by leak-tightness test.
The large-size construction will be installed on its standard place with the use of a special traverse weighing 80 tons. At present it is being manufactured at the premises of industrial complex JSC “MSU-90”. To produce the traverse according to the order specialists of industrial complex originated the design and process documentation.
It is designed as an annular metal thrust traverse that shall be fastened to the metal support frame of the structure of the containment’s 4th tier. 15 adjustable cables shall connect the annular thrust traverse with a special suspension, so called “chandelier” mounted on the hooked suspension of crane. This is necessary to prevent loss of geometric parameters of the construction in the process of installation, since the diameter tolerance is ± 5 mm.
Thereafter the traverse will be used for installation of the dome part of the reactor building from level + 44,600 to + 65,000. Then, due to its versatility, it can be used at the other nuclear facilities.
The leak-tight shell of the 4th tier shall be installed to its standard place at level +34,200 of the reactor building with the use “Liebherr” crane with a loading capacity of 1350 tons. Its installation is scheduled for the end of the year.
