During the meeting between the Rosatom State Corporation General Director Alexey Likhachev and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Fatih Donmez, the EPC-Contract was signed by the Customer JSC AKKUYU NUCLEAR and Joint Venture TITAN2 IC ICTAS INSAAT ANONIM SIRKETI.

EPC-Contract covers a part of “Akkuyu” NPP facilities construction works including engineering, equipment supply for work completion and construction finalization within the set deadlines. 

Joint Venture shareholders are JSC Concern Titan-2, a Rosatom-related Russian company with a 25-year experience in Russian and international nuclear facilities construction, and Turkish company IC Ictas Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S, a leader of the Turkish infrastructure market. Like JSC Concern Titan-2, established JV will be included into the Rosatom SC structure and will be able to efficiently use technological, labour, materiel and technical company assets under the international project. JSC CONCERN TITAN-2 CEO, Grigory Naginskiy, is assigned General Director of the JV. 

Upon signing of the important document, Grigory Naginskiy noted: “In 2018 we have finalized new Leningrad NPP power unit with VVER-1200 reactor and commissioned it for industrial operation. This project was a “turn-key” delivery. There shall be four such units at the “Akkuyu” power plant. Our unique construction and engineering experience will be used by the joint venture specialists during the first Turkish nuclear plant construction”.

Firat Cecen, Head of IC Ictas Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S, highlighted: “the Turkish company has experience in construction of complex thermal and hydro plants over time. But this is our first nuclear power plant. Recently, our specialists visited the LNPP-2 construction site (Russia, Sosnovy Bor) and learned about facility construction specifics and safety requirements”.

JSC Concern Titan-2 is a part of the Rosatom State Corporation (JSC Concern Rosenergoatom), the General Contractor for construction of new Leningrad nuclear power plant units, performing civil construction, installation and electrical installation. “Akkuyu” NPP

“Akkuyu” NPP is the first power plant to be constructed in the Republic of Turkey. The project is executed under the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation for construction and operation of the nuclear power plant at the “Akkuyu” site in Turkey concluded between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey on May 12, 2010. Four units with Russian-design VVER 3+ generation reactors will be built under this project. Capacity of each NPP unit will be 1200MW. 

As of now, the project is fully financed by the Russian party. Rosatom State Corporation is a major shareholder of the Akkuyu Nuclear company which undertook to design, construct, service, operate, and decommission the power plant. “Akkuyu” NPP construction in Turkey is the first nuclear project in the world executed per the Build-Own-Operate model.
