JSC MSU-90 is carrying out the work. Each heat exchanger assembly weighs approx. 7 tons.
The equipment is installed on a special platform in the lower tier of the inner containment dome section. Each piece of equipment is preassembled and later moved to the installation place where it is welded to the embedded parts.
The system of passive heat removal will serve to remove heat from the reactor core to the atmosphere in case all power sources are unavailable. Atmospheric air in the heat exchangers heats up, then rises by air ducts to the outlet header at the top of the dome and returns to the atmosphere.
