The equipment will be installed at its proper location, at the elevation of +26.000 of the reactor building, by JSC MSU-90 specialists.
The ECCS hydraulic accumulators represent large-dimensioned cylindrical vessels, each having a weight of 75 tons and a volume of 60 cubic meters. The equipment has been manufactured at the Petrozavodskmash plant. It belongs to safety class II.
The hydraulic accumulators are designed to store boric acid solution. In case of an emergency, namely when the pressure in the primary circuit drops below 6 MPa, the liquid is supplied to the reactor and the core is cooled down. Thus, the nuclear reaction is stopped with a large amount of boron-containing water absorbing neutrons.
The installation of large equipment inside the building will be carried out using the open top method, i.e. through open roofing of the building using Liebherr LR11350 crane.
