Specialists of JSC MSU-90 continue hydraulic tests of the spent fuel pool located in the reactor building of the first Power Unit of Leningrad NPP under construction.

The pool is located between level mark +8,000 and +26,300, its volume is 1800 m3. In future spent nuclear fuel will be temporarily stored here under thick layer of borated water.

Pool walls are made of concrete. They are shingled by 4-mm-thick stainless steel. Specialists of JSC MSU-90 are gradually filling the pool with water. Then the pool will be drained and specialists will start installation of racks and the failed fuel assembly detection system in the spent fuel pool. After that, commissioning works to install simulators of fuel rod assemblies into the canals of BV racks by the refueling machine will commence.
